Cis Partners in Transition: Understanding the Unique Challenges and Issues Experienced by Cisgender Spouses & Partners of Transgender Individuals
Cisgender partners may need their own support and spaces to process, especially if their partner comes out later on during their relationship. A partner might wonder, “What does this mean for our future? Our relationship? What about the kids? Are they going to leave me? Will their sexuality change?”
This 90-minute webinar, led by Sarah A. Gilbert LCSW, will provide insight into the unique biopsychosocial stressors that cisgender people face when their spouse or partner identifies as transgender, including: sexual orientation and intimacy, how transition impacts the relationship, lack of support for partners/spouses in this situation, impact on family systems, fear of rejection from peer groups and faith communities.
